On May 31, 2015, the 75 wind turbines of
Huaneng Subao Ding Wind Farm, the largest wind power project with
installed capacity in Hunan Province, passed a 240 hour trial run and
officially started operation!
The Huaneng Subaoting Wind Farm is located at the main peak of Xuefeng
Mountain, at the intersection of Hongjiang City and Dongkou County in
Hunan Province. It is currently the largest clean energy mountain wind
farm in Hunan Province, with a total area of 20.9 square kilometers and a
total installed capacity of 150000 kilowatts. It is equipped with 75
wind turbines with a single capacity of 2 megawatts, with a total
investment of 1.35 billion yuan. The wind turbine control and pitch
system of the wind farm are provided by Hunan Shiyou Electric Co., Ltd.
The unique mountainous climate has led to unpredictable beauty. Some people describe the beauty of Su Baoding as follows: "She seems to be immersed in a misty haze, beautiful and romantic; she seems to be hidden in a thick fog, elegant and outstanding; she has the tenderness of fine rain like silk, the passion of the setting sun like fire, and even the lightning like heat." Although the complex climate conditions have created wonderful scenery, they have brought us problems - humidity, condensation, lightning, and harsh working conditions!

The main control and variable pitch system developed fully meets the complex mountain climate of high altitude, frequent thunderstorms, and condensation, and is at the forefront of the industry.

The wind turbines standing on 75 small hills

After all 75 wind
turbines are put into operation, the annual power generation of the wind
farm will reach 315 million kilowatt hours. The six research
achievements of Su Baoding have been awarded the Power Construction
Progress Award and QC Achievement Award by the China Electric Power
Construction Association, accumulating experience for improving the
level of wind power engineering construction in China.
After the
project is put into operation, according to the calculation of
subcritical thermal power units with the same capacity, 100000 tons of
standard coal can be saved annually, which has a positive significance
for adjusting Hunan's energy structure, protecting the ecological
environment, and promoting regional economic sustainable development.
